You can modify a symbol in the Symbol Editor to automatically modify all associated instances.
To open the Symbol Editor:

Double-click an instance of the symbol. |

Double-click the symbol object in the Library panel's preview pane. |

From the Library panel, select a symbol name and choose Edit Symbol from the Options pop-up menu. |

Double-click the symbol name in the Library panel. The Symbol Properties dialog box opens. Click Edit. |
To edit a symbol:
1 | Double-click an instance to open the Symbol Editor. |
2 | Edit the symbol and close the window. |
All instances of the symbol change to reflect your modifications. | |

To duplicate a symbol:
1 | In the Library panel, select the symbol. |
2 | From the Options pop-up menu, choose Duplicate. |

To delete a symbol:
1 | In the Library panel, select the symbol. |
2 | Choose Delete from the Library panel Options pop-up menu. |
3 | Click Delete. The symbol and all of its instances are deleted. |

To select all symbols in the Library that have not yet been used in the current document:
Choose Select Unused Items from the Library panel Options pop-up menu.
